Sounds wonderful. Can't offer any advice but would love to hear about the trip. I will follow the blog if you get one started.

We'll be going to Europe. Hope to blog abit while we are on the road..on bikes and train. Am crossin' my fingers that there won't be any technical bloopers but who knows. He's still getting used to new Mac software, etc.
Am interested in knowing:
1. Have read any cycling trip / travel trip blogs?
2. If yes, what features of travel trip blogs do you like?
- Unusual, key things that traveller sees, does/feels or highlight of local folks?
- A bit of background info. and photos of what blogger sees?
- Wierd / unknown trivia about a place/things blogger discovers/learns?
- Food, more unusual stuff / occasional local food places (market, restaurant, cafe, etc.)?
- Short posts...no more than 200 words max. and photos? Or shorter?
- Geographic summary for journey (ie. location of key places, topography, etc.)

If nothing goes wrong (and there's time admidst soaking in foreign countries), it'll be in Cycle Write blog. I just hope not to summarize it all in 1 pithy page....and have a pile of photos in the end.
But anyway, would be interested to also to know what people like to read in web travelogues. Cyclists have a wealth of blogs to choose from to read.

I like to hear it all! I live vicariously through other people, and treat myself to regular readings from Crazy Guy on a Bike.
I like: lots of photos (and not just of landmarks. Everyone knows what the Eiffel Tower looks like. I want to see people's houses and shops and schools), stories about the uncomfortable/icky/bad stuff as well as the fun stuff, and packing lists. I don't know why I like lists of what people packed. My favorites are not just what people pack but I love it when they get so detailed that they tell me what they packed in each compartment of each pannier. I'm probably a little weird that way. And I like long posts. The more detail I get, the more involved I feel. If the post is short I feel cheated, like they're holding out on me! I also like maps (again, an obsession of mine) showing where the people are and where they're going.
Have fun!
