    Casual Wedding Reception Attire Advice

    To disable ads, please log-in.

One of my co-workers is having a wedding reception June 19th(they married in the Bahamas earlier this month) - its suppose to be casual - a carribean theme. For starters, I'm not a dress or skirt gal. I'm looking for ideas and advice on what to wear to this. The reception starts at 5pm. Also, I don't carry a purse, what would you suggest as a purse substitute?

How 'bout some nice linen slacks with pockets, sandals and a silk blouse? You could dress it up with accessories if you so choose.

Yeah, I was thinking linen, too. And there's no need to carry a purse (I detest the things). Don't bring anything, or a money clip if there's a cash bar or something.

If you don't want to wear a dress, nice slacks are fine. How do you normally carry keys, money, cellphone, etc?

If you drive a car, that reduces a lot of the need for carrying things because you can leave them in the car, if it's safe.

Oh, and thank your friends for having a casual event.

I agree with the linen and a pretty Hawaiian shirt might really make it snappy!

I like the idea of flowy linen pants and a somewhat dressy top. I have a sleeveless rayon jersey top that is my go-to for occasions like this where a dress is too much. Shows off my guns too

As for the purse, ditch it if you don't like to carry one. I have a business card holder that serves as my "going out" wallet. It fits an ID, credit card, and cash easily, and I have a second "mini-keychain" with just a car key and house key on it. All of this stuff fits in a front pants pocket.

    chic chick

Go with the flowy linen pants and a dressy halter top, pashmina shawl, strappy sandals, big hoop earrings and an outrgeous large ring on the tallman finger of your right hand. Slick your hair back. Done. Make your +1 carry stuff.
