Hubby can't sleep before any big event because he's afraid he'll oversleep. I sleep pretty well before a big ride. If I don't, I'll have a melt down before the ride is over.![]()
i can NEVER sleep before a big ride. always afraid i'll miss the wakeup. always. sheesh.

I can't sleep before a big ride either. It's partly adrenaline, and partly that my brain just keeps running through its checklist..."pump the tires...pack spare tube...wear HR monitor" etc. During the ride I don't usually feel too tired despite missing sleep. As soon as I stop riding though, I promptly conk out.
