These are small milestones compared with everyone else on this forum, but small steps first
- Today I rode 20 miles for the first time
- Today I made it up a monster hill at a local park and for the first time didn't have to walk it!
- Today I wound up on some bad pavement, thought I was going to fall, steered for the grass to break my fall and somehow managed to get everything under control and to stop without falling!
- Today I learned how to take my left hand off of the bar while riding and adjust my mirror, scratch my face, etc!
- Today I managed to negotiate unusual traffic situations in the Park with cars, packs of cyclists, and runners without falling over or hitting anyone

Monday through Wed of next week I will be hitting the unknown (to me) rail-trail and parks of Yellow Springs, Oh. For the first time I feel ready for them![]()

I still remember when I hit those big milestones! The first time you go 20 miles is as memorable as the first time you go 100.
Good for you! That's awesome!

Congratulations! I love those firsts. Every time I get a new first I feel like I'm one step closer to being a "real" cyclist.
I bet by the end of the summer you'll be able to do your first centennial, and you'll be able to drink out of your water bottle without stopping!
Well done!! Those are all great skills - keep practicing and you'll continue to improve.![]()
