Peanut butter, pretzels, and sharp cheddar cheese -- together.

Hot eggplant parm on toasted Italian bread. Mmmmm...
And I forgot, a hot/warm Reuben sandwich with quality pastrami or corned beef, sauerkraut inside is a must plus a mozarella or Swiss cheese. I eat my garlic pickle on the side.
I get mine from a restaurant.
And another memory but only from Toronto (Vancouver doesn't have enough varieties or I don't know where to get it. It's more of a great seafood city not other types of meats.): Canadian peameal bacon on a bun with spicy/honey mustard. I usually put on 2 types of mustard inside bun.
I know it's carnivorous. Oh well..these are the rare meat sandwiches I enjoy since hamburgers are ok, but not the greatest thing to me. (I eat a hamburger...um once a yr., if that.) These other sandwiches...um...maybe once or twice annually. So I enjoy them slowly.

I enjoy growing sprouts, then piling them on a sesame hamburger bun with a dab of mayo and some tomatoes....

Now you're talking! Growing up, I was always the kid with leftovers for lunch, so sandwiches were a rarity. When I got to high school mom quit lunch-making duty and being a dumb, lazy teen, I just threw sandwiches together - and hated them. Usually just dry lunch meat and American cheese. So gross. Now that I'm older and a bit wiser, I love a good caprese or salami with oil and vinegar on crusty Italian bread. Grilled eggplant focaccia with some mozz and basil, mmmmmm. Once in a while, I love a plain PB sandwich; just TONS of PB so your mouth is almost sealed shut
Oh my, all these sandwiches sound so incredibly good!

I love a sprout sandwich with havarti, avocado and tomato on baguette. Also love hummus, turkey and basil on whole wheat. I love any kind of grilled cheese but especially a quesadilla folded in half to make a sandwich, with sliced avocado as the filling. I have two sandwiches that remind me of my dad: pimento and cheese on toast, and a bagel with cream cheese, genoa salami and mustard. Recently had a brie, pear and ham grilled sandwich that was out of this world.
Oh boy, these sandwiches all sound stunning! And my everyday sandwiches sound very humdrum. But they're a staple, and have to be easy to transport and easy to eat, with fairly simple ingredients. I make them all with double thin slices of wholegrain bread, with rye, but not the dark "sour" rye bread. I like light bread too, but not for "real food".
At any given time I'm probably going through four a day of one or two of these types:
- cheese and fruit - aged yellow cheese or brie with sliced grapes or apple
- cream cheese and blackcurrant jam
- banana and a tart jam, like cranberry
- good old boiled egg and mayonaisse, salt and pepper, cherry tomato if I have time
- brown goat's cheese, sweet and caramelish, nothing like the salty white ones
- thick slices of green apple with a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar on top
- tunafish and mayonaisse
- sliced avocado and a good ham
I'm off the peanut butter wagon and don't expect to be back on for at least a year!

I've been chowing on hummus and avocado spread on good bakery bread or english muffin. Sometimes mixed w/ hard boiled egg. This would probably be a good substitute for mayo
