"My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved;I have been given much and I have given something in return...Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and an adventure." O. Sacks
I guess this means that I am a triathlete now?
My race went pretty well. I am happy with my swim and my run, a tad disappointed with my bike, but overall felt that it wasn't bad for my first attempt. I have lots of room for improvement and as is my style, have spent the last two days thinking about how to get said improvement for next time!
I ended up 8/15 in our age group - 5/15 on the bike and 10/15 for both the swim and the run. I did have two of the four women in that TE photo in my swim lane though! How funny is that?
All in all, I really enjoyed it and while I'm already signed up for #2 in June, I expect that there will be even more tri weekends in my future.
I did post a full race report over at BT, if anyone wants to read it. I think this link should work:

Great job you guys!

Yes, GLC, you're a triathlete now. Welcome.Great job, too!
For thinking you didn't have a great bike time, you did come in 5/15, which is not too shabby at all. Congrats. They only get easier from here. (Well, maybe not, but there's a lot less to learn after you get through one of them!)
Great job, guys! You rock!

I found a great photo on the event photographer's website. Usually photos of me look so bad, but I kinda like this one.

That's a terrific picture! You should totally buy that (or someone should buy it for you).

Great picture, Susan! Rick had an awesome one too...I think I might buy it for him.
Mine? Yeah, not so much. My run photo was the best of the three but I look pissed off in it so I'm probably not going to order it.
