Famous singer & being attentive

Right now my head is trying to downscale abit --just came back from luncheon celebration event sponsored by a high tech. firm. It was great-- it included Sarah Mclachlan...yes THE famous singer who sang for the crowd. About an hr.

Before that was Canada's Winter Olympic 2010 gold medalled lady for snowboarding: Maelle Ricker who gave her speech.

It was abit mind-boggling to hear and see Sara. (She lives in Vancouver area.)

At our table, was an independent blogger-journalist who had his head down 50% of the time on his iPod. He even did it during Sara's singing. It looks incredibly rude. And whenever he spoke with us, about half of the time he was promoting himself, his blog, you know the schtick.

This was a private event, by invitation only in a nice upscale hotel ballroom. About 200 people were there.

Yes, it was cool.

And maybe my blog post will show up later today...something wrong with blogware. Need to clear my head and go for a cycle.

Actually the event inspired me..to write something else related to cycling and national /world class level athletes.

And for certain, please sit at the back of a room if you ever want to text/don't care about the speakers/performers.

It seems as though common courtesy went out the window when cell phones became a staple in our culture.

There is a girl (17) in my design class who thinks nothing of holding a personal conversation while the whole class can hear. So annoying.
