Anybody from Middle Tennessee? Wondering where to donate

I want to donate something for flood relief (I was born in Nashville). Just wondered if anyone knows of a local charity with an especially sterling reputation.

I'm thinking of Second Harvest food bank; even though it's not flood-specific, I'll bet their services are needed more than ever. So many families didn't have flood insurance.

You might finding a local chapter of the Red Cross and donating directly to them. I'm sure they're out in force there right now, and will be for some time.

I just got back from visiting my Mom last week. Luckily her neighborhood wasn't affected. Here's a link from one of the local tv stations outlining relief efforts http://www.wsmv.com/news/23448373/detail.html. HTH

Nashvilleans I know are asking for Red Cross donations. You can even donate to your local chapter and earmark it for Tennessee flood relief, since they all cooperate with the National.

You can look up most charities on Charity Navigator, if you find a local or a less-well-known national that appeals to you.

Thanks for the link. I'm glad your mom is okay. So far, most of the friends I've heard from are okay. I do know one family that was flooded and lost everything (and had no flood insurance).
