Fluffernutter -- PB + marshmallow fluff. It's good cold or grilled.

Fluffernutter sandwiches were my absolute favorite when I was a kid!

Now, crunchy peanut butter and banana (bananas cut thinly lengthwise and laid over the peanut butter) on Dave's Killer Bread is my favorite, especially for long distance cycling. I can go 2 hours on one of those babies! I'll also do almond butter and banana.

A bagel with lox, cream cheese and red onion is another favorite, but I would never cycle with it. This is what my Dad always makes for me when I visit home. I can never eat one without thinking of my Dad, and my Yiddish grandparents in their musty old apartment in Queens. Good memories.

We must be related! Same fav sammy as a kid, and a lox bagel is the best, and reminds me of MY grandparent's old apartment in Queens!

    Cheese. Cheese, cheese, cheese.

Never did the pb&j thing. When I was growing up I liked cheese and jelly. Still do.

There's a deli near work where I like to get muenster on rye with tomatoes and russian dressing.

Cheese and tomatoes go great together.

Cheese on a whole wheat bagel with a little mayo is always nice.

(Yes I know, I have strange tastes. This is just the tip of the iceberg...)

Oak, if you're ever in NYC, you have to eat at Moustache: http://www.moustachepitza.com/ in the village. They make their pita to order, and it comes out big and poofy. It's so delicious.

My favorite sandwich is fresh mozzarella and either broccoli rabe or arugula on focaccia, with lots of olive oil. Neither version would be good on a bike, unless you didn't care about being able to shift or stop.

I also love grilled cheese and tomato. And PB and B. I eat a lot of sandwiches.

Ultimate favorite: a very special BLT. Featuring a perfectly ripe tomato, so fresh it's still warm from the sun in my garden. L is replaced by spinach out of the garden. It's on my home-made bread, with a generous amount of home-made mayo. (First of the tomatoes have been planted, and I'm counting the days...)

Another fav: grilled cheese and avocado. YUM!

I wonder if that's the place we wandered into on New Year's Eve one time, after getting within maybe three blocks of Times Square with all the crowds, and then wandering around the city until we got hungry around 3 a.m. It was delicious!
