I've been riding a Ruby 143 saddle for a little over a year now, and after lots of little adjustments I'm to the point where I almost love it. However, in recent months I've started to chafe at one distinct spot in the crease of my left leg (about 1-2" in front of my sit bone, roughly where the side of the saddle begins to flare). It happens regardless of what shorts or chamois cream I'm using, and it's even caused marble-sized cysts to form on two separate occasions (which have fortunately regressed on their own). No amount of adjustment has been able to alleviate this problem.
Even so, there's a lot I like about the Ruby and I'm now thinking maybe I should try the men's Toupe as it seems to slope a bit more at the transition from rear to nose. Another option would be to try a 130 Ruby (I measure closest to 143 and my sit bones are well supported on the 143 Ruby, but I think there's room to spare). For those of you who have ridden one or both of these saddles, any advice??Does the men's styling (shape, cutout, etc.) feel much different than the women's? Also, what kind of life span can I expect from this style of saddle?
