    Apps

Ok, I know we had threads on the iPhone and on the new Droid. I JUST joined the 21st century w/ a smart phone, touch screen. Since I am stuck w/ Sprint my best option was the HTC Hero--w/ Android technology.

So before I clog up my phone w/ bad apps or stuff I won't ever use....what are you fave apps?

    Mostly I am looking at:
diet/wt loss--so tracking food and activity
    cycling stuff
    running stuff
    resturant searches (local)
    cooking/light/healthy meals

Other "fun" or "useful" apps you have loaded.

And while I am asking...what do you use your smart phone for? How does it help you?

    Thanks!
I feel a bit lost w/ this. Talk about feeling "old"! I really only use the computer for banking, emails (some), TE discussion forums, used to log my food/workout on Fit Day.com, and some hotel, travel searches. I am not really into social networking (facebook, twitter).

    Thanks again!

I have the HTC Droid for Verizon, my favorite workout apps are Cardio Trainer and My Tracks for working out. Pandora and Google Sky Map are cool, and I use the Shopping list all the time. Task Killer is also a good idea.

You're ahead of me on the phone. I only just re-enabled texting on my cell phone, which is an old one that doesn't even have a keyboard for easy texting. (I blocked all texting a few years ago because I was getting too much spam and paying 10 cents a piece for it.)

I've been intentionally ignoring smart phones because I don't want to have a higher cell phone bill every month, but recently my trainer got a new iphone and he just had to show me all the apps, so now I walk around thinking "a smart phone would be totally useful to have right now." I figure I'll wind up getting one in a couple of months.

I want to stick with Verizon so I'll probably wind up with something similar to yours. So I'm looking forward to seeing the responses here...

    NY Biker,
I was just where you are a few months ago....I like that I get email alerts on it and can "peek". I have my home email going there pulse they set you up gmail acct.

I heard of a web site that rates apps...so I plan to visit there. Pros and cons as you move into the more techie/connected world. I'll let you know how things go.

    Okay, Droid peeps:

Talk to me about synching with iCal and/or MS Entourage. That's my #1 requirement.

That, and a port of Bejeweled or a knock-off game

Okey dokey, I'm ramping up the research and getting ready to get a new phone.

What are iCal and MS Entourage?
