Taking pictures of my boys sleeping.
They are 17 and 19 now and I still snap them when I get the chance. They call me a "creeper" but I only do it now when we are camping, sharing a hotel room or I catch them on the sofa. What's creepy about that...they just grow up so fast!

Catching sight of my my GTI in a parking lot.
It is so playful with its potato cutter wheels. Not at all appropriate for a mom who will be 50 in June! Gotta love that turbo whine.

Seeing my husband hitch up his tool belt.
He has this special move like he's getting ready for a gun fight in the wild west. He's a desk guy who knows how to use tools. He builds me things for a hobby instead of hunting, fishing or golfing. I love working along side of him.

I admit, it's hard to make me smile... I tend to be too serious about most things.

My DH still makes me smile after 30 years of marriage. I still want to be with him all of the time, even now.

The smell of all of the seasons. It's hard to explain, but each season in New England has a certain smell. And the smell of pinon, (sorry, no little Spanish mark to put above the n in that word), on a clear December night in the desert. One of the few things I miss about AZ.

Memories of funny things with my kids.

Seeing the respectful way my sons treat their SOs.

When I finish a hard ride, even though I have complained the whole time, which happens a lot!

You gotta lighten up. What about those great trails you have around you. Is there anything out there that makes you smile?

Seeing yourself in a news photo! (was looking at the Duke welcome home coverage - and sure enough....) Kinda cool (even if it is blurry and no one will know who I am...).

And Duke winning a National Championship

I love ducks too. Contented waddling things, and so pretty. And pigs too, not quite as pretty but contented.

And cats, of course. Nothing like a cat pretending to be undignified (which would never happen, of course) to make me smile Our late beloved Raptus had a trick of spreading full out on her back with paws spread, apparently begging for a fuzzy belly rub, but if you didn't catch her beady look at the same time you'd get a handful of claws for your trouble.

Veronica, were you talking to me? .
I love everything about the geography and climate around me. I chose to move back here after 23 years of being away. It will be 20 years on June 4th. I have never, never regretted my choice. I can go out my door, in every season , and pretty much do the sport of my choice.

I'm not much for silly stuff, gushy stuff, jokes, etc. Always been overly realistic and practical. Well, there's plenty of TE people who have met me, to know I'm pretty normal, but I admit I don't like a lot of things most people get ga-ga over. I won't list the things here, or *I* might get on the list of things that piss people off!

I love riding my bike no matter when, where or the weather
I love the sound of the wind in my wheels and the hum of my tires on the road
I love being out in nature
I love my husband/sag guy who takes such good care of me, my three cats and my corgie.
I love my 3 children who are all turning into charming intelligent independent adults.

Watching penguins play at the zoo

Hearing a favorite song on the radio for the first time in a long time

Polishing up the bike so it's nice and shiny (knowing it won't stay that way! )

Seeing the cherry tree in the backyard in full bloom . . .

My climbing Cecile Brunner rose in full bloom on the gazebo

Attack cat "helping" me get dressed in the morning. Keeping a piece of ribbon handy saves clothes.

Kitties or Doggies in full tilt PLAY! mode. Anything will amuse them, and nothing is safe.

Honeybees. Pretty much a guaranteed smile and spiritual deepening any time I see even one. The one time a swarm approached and passed around me while I was out in my garden was AMAZING.

    - Sleeping with the windows open and the feeling of fresh spring air on your skin in the morning.
    - My love making me coffee with sugar and warm soy milk every morning, just so I can stay in bed a couple more minutes.
    - Taking fresh-baked cookies down to the bike shop he works at.
    - Spending an entire afternoon reading a good book on the porch.
    - Doing the cross-word with my dad.
