The smell of fresh plowed earth.

The special color of green that only happens when the trees are just starting to leaf out in Appalachia.

    Sunshine.

The feeling you have when you finish a race of a certain distance for the first time.

    The smell of citrus blossoms.

Right now, I'm loving coming home to my new husband. That puts an immediate smile on my face.

I also love watching him interact with my cats. He loves them as much (well, almost as much) as I do. We thought we might lose Sophie Kitty earlier in the year, so to see her sitting on his lap each night makes me smile.

Ice cream. Seriously, I have a problem.

On Friday, I noticed that the trees were starting to flower. That definitely made me happy.

There's a little boy--Collin--whose father is a regular on another forum I frequent (I think Snap has mentioned him here a time or two). He's had a long and scary battle with leukemia, but he turned a corner about a month ago. Every time I read an update indicating that he's getting better and better, I smile (and tear up).

    Thanks, V, for this thread.

That blue-black sky just before the sun truly sets.

Snow on the Santa Cruz Mountains and Mt Hamilton.

    Dogs and puppies.

Coming down a hill at 35-45mph on a bike.

Smell of dry grass on the hills in the summertime (makes me remember cardboarding down 'em).

    The smell of early morning.

The smell of rain on dry pavement.

The feeling you've hit some pedaling rhythm on the bike and it's just smooth.

My own shadow on a grassy or snowy slope beside me, when I'm pedalling.

My son's irrepressible sense of humor, that bubbles out even when he's pissed off and just woken up.

there are 2 things that my dog Murphy loves beyond all others - peeing on something after some other dog has already done so and rolling on his back. Both make him do this smiling grunting thing that makes me smile every time!

This morning sitting in the hottub watching the ravens looking all over the place for nesting material and watching the stellar jays in total nest protection mode chase the neighborhood squirrels!

    Lovely

My son's guinea pig outside eating grass on a sunny day. Doesn't want to wait for me to move out of its way so it can get to the dandelion I'm sitting on, so it runs at me head on from 2 feet away and head butts me.

    Ducks!

I work near an inlet of the SF Bay, and from time to time ducks hang out around the buildings.

They're so goofy looking, they always make me laugh.

I'm also starting to see quail on my rides, they're a hoot too.

Taking pictures of my boys sleeping.
They are 17 and 19 now and I still snap them when I get the chance. They call me a "creeper" but I only do it now when we are camping, sharing a hotel room or I catch them on the sofa. What's creepy about that...they just grow up so fast!

Catching sight of my my GTI in a parking lot.
It is so playful with its potato cutter wheels. Not at all appropriate for a mom who will be 50 in June! Gotta love that turbo whine.

Seeing my husband hitch up his tool belt.
He has this special move like he's getting ready for a gun fight in the wild west. He's a desk guy who knows how to use tools. He builds me things for a hobby instead of hunting, fishing or golfing. I love working along side of him.
