Another picture of yourself or your ride? Couldn't figure out how to put in the pic - if you could see it it's of me at the barriers for the Tour Down Under.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: This won't hurt darling (waxing my partner's legs).

Most memorable moment on my bike: Last year I entered the Be Active (public rider) component of the Tour Down Under. I'm not a great rider, and I'm truly bad on hills, so riding through the Barossa Valley was always going to be a challenge. But I was determined to do it for my 50th birthday present to me, and I did it, and crossing that finish line was my proudest single achievement. Had a quiet cry.

Most fun ever had on a bike? This year (2005) partner and I and kids went to France for the summer to see Le Tour and do some riding in bicycle heaven. Daughter (age 30) and I hopped on our bikes in Briancon (highest town in Europe) and screamed down through the Alps, literally. Doing around 50k (32mph?) on hairpin curves. S*it eating grins, all the way down.

    Arna -
Nope, I believe it's all about your state of mind. I suspect that in many cases remaining active keeps us young. In fact, I've had people accuse me of lying when I tell them I'm 53, saying that I couldn't be that old. I take that as a compliment... And as a celebration of turning 50, I just had to ride my bike across the United States!

Welcome to the board - happy posting & reading.

I wish I knew....I've done a lot of employment law (not by choice, it's pretty boring) but my real interest in environmental, especially ocean/coastal. Don't know what the future will hold for me, I worked in New Orleans & Gulfport last summer & after Katrina, there's really nothing left. The N.O. office was a block from the Superdome & in Gulfport, our office was ON the beach. I hear both places are laying off experienced attorneys left and right. But, my mom and I discussed it the other night & we both place a lot of stock in the whole "all things happen for a reason" bit....Neither of the jobs were something I was just nuts about, and had things worked out I would have felt obligated to take the job (student loans are pretty good incentive). Now my BF and I (he's in law school w/ me) are thinking we might just take off and move to Oregon or Vermont like we have been dying to do all along. We haven't been able to find any job leads yet, but hey, we don't have any kids or anything (and we've been known to happily live in a tent for 6+ weeks) so we figure we'll manage. Sorry if this was more info than you were looking for, but I'm in the middle of studying for my last exam & anything to procrastinate is insanely fun right about now....lol
