It keeps falling off. I can't afford a new one. I'm really depressed. It falls off about every three mile.

It's 60 degrees out today. The trails are in good condition. Work is slow . . . I could totally sneak away, but am nervous to go by myself knowing that I'm having mechanical issues with my bike.

Have you tried putting loctite threadlocker on it?

You should be able to find it at home depot or lowes.

I don't normally use it, but have used it on some cranks that seemed determined to work their way loose and it fixed the problem. If you apply enough force, you can still get the cranks off when you want them off.

It's probably too late anyway... but be careful you don't strip out your BB spindle while you're at it.

BTDT with a motorcycle, long story, mostly not my fault, anyway a new BB won't cost you what it did to rebuild my bottom end.

Is it an old style Race Face like a deuce or an atlas? The DH had this issue and used blue lock tight.

He said the spindle is attached to the nondrive side so the spindle bolt that goes through the drive side would not stay put. He said use only the blue lock tight so it can be removed.

I have a bontrager crankset.

I got the loctite from the hardware store. Then consulted DH. He spent many years working in a bike shop and racing mountain bikes. He told me to wait and work on it when he has time.

I know he'll be really helpful and make sure that we fix it properly, BUT, he works SO MANY HOURS! There are many days we don't even see each other. He'll say he's going to fix stuff, but it can take months until he gets to it. Usually I just figure it out and handle it myself. But this time I decided it's important enough to have him help me with it.

My plan is to seduce him tonight, then at the right moment pull out the crank and mutter something about how sexy he is while he works on bikes

Plan worked. Crank is fixed.

Just did my first trail ride of the season. 12 miles. Crank stayed on.
