I've been following this thread with interest....
I actually use rechargeables in everything, but prefer batteries that can be user replaced. Why? Because otherwise, the entire mp3 player heads to the landfill when the battery no longer holds a charge... I don't think that was the OP's plan, but it's a different perspective![]()

No e waste recycling where you are? They finally made ours free. You have to take it to the hazardous waste facility yourself, but they are open Saturday mornings. It's amazing how much stuff we had been keeping in our garage because it wasn't suppose to go into the regular garbage.

Sadly just a few times a year. We're way behind the times on such things....

I figured out a way to keep from forgetting to recharge my Ipod. I have a docking station with speakers that charges it. That way I don't have to hook it up to my laptop, hunt up the cord, etc., to make sure it's charged up. The inconvenience of plugging it into the laptop is what makes me forget. But I just store it on the dock, and it's always charged.
Also, if you really want to use battery power, you can use the rechargeable batteries.

So, update. Listened to the Clip Plus tonight at the gym for the first time. (Before this I was outside taking a walk while I was listening to it.) And I really wasn't thrilled with the sound quality. However I think it's because I used the default bit rate on Windows Media Player when I ripped my cds. So I'm deleting everything and starting over at a higher bit rate. I've tested one cd so far -- Foo Fighters Greatest Hits, specifically Monkey Wrench and All My Life. Much better.
I am also having some trouble with the controls -- I agree they're not too intuitive. No doubt the people at the gym tonight thought I was crazy the way I was talking to the thing: No! That's not what I want! What are you doing?!?
But I'll figure it out eventually...
