Usually I get to slide casually through winter being glad I don't live in the northeast or the midwest. Normally I'd be looking for sprigs of daffodils under the leaves by now. But this year, I get to participate in the snow games! Six to 8 inches expected tomorrow! Highly unusual for Arkansas. I heard yesterday that our school district hasn't had a full week of school since the new year (MLK day was in there, too).
No ice expected, so I'm thinking the power will stay on.

But I really, really needed a shower; I couldn't stand my own stink!!
I did go shovel, for 2.5 hours. I have more, oh, so much more, to do, but need the lines hanging over the driveway to be fixed before I can finish, which will likely be just in time for Tuesday's snow, dangfraznabbit.
Sorry to hear that 7 lost power---heard that Silver Spring was hit pretty hard w/power outages. Hopefully, they will have it restored soon.
Our street remains untouched by a plow, but that's understandable given the conditions of many of the main roads... I might go out and shovel out the road in front of our house. Five to ten more inches expected tomorrow pm into Wednesday morning, unfortunately. I'm not sure when I'm going to make it back to work (thank goodness, OPM gave us today off).
Hope everyone is safe. I feel really bad for the folks who have to go in to work today.
We got out for a short drive over to the grocery store. Georgia Ave was awful up here, still snow covered (especially at intersections) and not even open full width.
I don't know how the area will cope with another 6-10"![]()
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Quoted a friend at the Super Bowl party last night, who was trying to figure out how to fly INTO Washington D.C. for a scheduled meeting today. Umm, the federal government is shut down, the airports are shut down, have a beer and enjoy the game. She finally confirmed that there are no available flights, her meeting is cancelled - and then she could have that beer or two or three - especially after the Saints won!
It is confirmend, Hell has frozen over, the Saints won the Super Bowl.
Sorry you're snowed in.![]()

My niece lives on a cul de sac in silver spring - plows never get down there. She said her new neighbor apparently hired a guy off Craigslist to come and plow. Sounds good so far. Except he plowed only as far as the neighbor's house, and dumped ALL THE SNOW, right in front of my niece's driveway. She is furious.
Several of us have suggested hiring the guy to come again, and move the pile back over in front of the neighbor's driveway. This guy could make a fortune just off this street!

We're now officially dug out, just in time for the next batch of snow. We got 32 inches up here. We're lucky that we live on a street within sight of the beltway and with a county homeless shelter and hospital at the end of the road, so they keep our street plowed (well, within reason--there's still a few inches of slop on it, but it's passable) and once we're off our street it's nothing but main roads and highways. Time to run out to the grocery store for milk and hummus!
My poor dog, though. He's agreeing now to go OUT in the snow, but won't walk very far--the narrow paths with high piles of snow on each side freak him out. He's going a bit stir crazy in here. My kids are going to hit that point soon too--school is canceled through Wednesday.
