A newbie's list:
Stop using the hand-me-down and buy a bike that fits and that makes me smile every time I look at it.
Ride more than just once or twice a week.
Learn some basic bike maintenance and get better at my bike handling skills.
Ride enough during the year to be able to do a half century for my half century birthday in October. (Shh, that's the secret goal; I really, really want to do it, but I have a history of making goals for myself and not meeting them and then getting mad at myself. So I plan to trick myself into thinking it's not a goal, do it anyway, and then be doubly happy).
