In case anyone missed this (the consumer release is from August, and I'd missed it until the FTC sent the warning letter to retailers yesterday): that silky fabric is not "bamboo." It's rayon. Which is derived from plant cellulose, including bamboo, but is highly processed with toxic chemicals.
Disappointingly (but not surprisingly), the FTC's own headline to its press release states that it warned "Retailers, Including Wal-Mart, Target, and Kmart," when the retailers it warned also included Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Tommy Bahama. Gaiam has already re-labeled the products it sells as "rayon from bamboo fiber."
