I have meetings downtown from time-to-time, and a mixte with swept-back bars would be perfect! Easy on my wrist, gentle on my work clothes (no bending forward and getting mussed up), and downright elegant. Add some fenders for puddles and a rack for my Arkel briefcase pannier, and it's about as good as can be!

    That is my quest.
I've ocassionally seen some nice bikes on the Richmond craigslist if you want to get an old one.

He's had nice mixtes before, but has no bikes for sale now. YOu could possibly ask him to keep an eye out for one to refurb for you.

You could try changing the handlebars on your jamis coda to soma sparrows - those sweep back depending on whether you flip them up or down and they let you use mountain bike shifters. (if you do a search, Sarahspins & I posted pics of them on flat bar bikes recently)

Didn't you find a mixte frame in the trash or an alleyway recently?

I found a fixie frame, but it's not a mixte. Still in my basement, untouched. Bullhorns, rusty Raleigh...great potential, though

I'll take a look at the Soma bars. My Jamis is not a mixte, but I want to change the bars on it anyways.

I'll keep my eyes open for a mixte. The guys at Richmond Recycles live in my neighborhood, so I'll ask them, too.

I finally got my mixte today. It's currently without saddle or bars but when I finish it will look something like this one-

The price for this one? A whopping $0.00.
