I think you are doing GREAT! You're coming at this after a long absence from the pool, so I think you should feel really good about what you're accomplishing. 750 yards is fantastic for someone just getting back into it. Speed and endurance will come with practice.
Awesome news on the lessons! I'm sure you will get alot out of the class. The lessons I took last year were one of the very best things I could have done for myself. It made a big difference in how I move through the water.
I went swimming with one of my younger sisters when I was in NJ last week. She hasn't swum a lap since we were kids. She did 3 laps and called it a day. I was super proud of her for getting in there and for starting out nice and easy, and staying within her comfort zone to start. She's already talking about doing a "super sprint" tri this fall (.25 mile swim, 6 mile bike and 2.5 mile run) and I told her I would fly back home to do it with her (at HER pace) if she signed up.
