I have a Brooks that just didn't work on my road bike (and currently I can't think of the model number), but I can't bear the thought of parting with it either. It would probably work really well on my townie, but I like the saddle that's currently on that bike, so the Brooks is sitting on the shelf.
(and the box was done-in by a pumpkin which decomposed on top of it - but the saddle was OK)

I stockpile saddles when I find a model I like. Some companies are notorious for changing models frequently (WTB) or simply being incredibly bad at staying in business (Avocet).

Saddles do wear out or are damaged in a crash.
