I can't believe how bummed I feel right now.
I had this guy saved in my favourites for a while, and had assumed he was adopted long ago, as it was a few months ago. I clicked, and he's still homeless. He's older, so it broke my heart that he's still looking for a home.
So I had made arrangements to meet him and to foster him but have been swamped at work these two days so I've not been able to go meet him. So when I called them again to tell them I can't make it til tomorrow, I was told "oh, someone's interested in him".
Good news that he's finally getting some interest, but did it have to be when I was getting all excited?!? I'm happy at the prospect he might find a home, but for MONTHS nobody showed any interest and all of a sudden all this might be moot. I had to cry while driving home because this would have likely ended up as an adoption so I was getting myself all psyched for it.
His name's Hobie, it really suits him.

Badger, I can see why you fell in love with Hobie. It looks like he has a big milk mustache & goatee! Something so wonderful about those white faced old souls, isn't there?
Today starts Noah's 11th year....so it's his birthday.
Technically, I have no idea when he was born - likely sometime in the summer of 1999. But I have traditionally treated Noah like a race horse - his birthday is January 1st.
So, happy birthday to my old timer, Noah.
Here...Noah rejects our reading materials. I think he's looking for the cooking section!

What is Noah getting for his b'day? He's a very smoochable bun-bun.
Will he sit in your lap or does he just generally amble about?
I'm just trying to understand having a rabbit. Does he listen to commands?
Enlighten me.

I always thought Rabbits sent subliminal messages to thier owners through thier noses...
This thread is looooong. I randomly picked pages to look at. Such adorable pets. My spouse is allergic to anything with fur so we don't have any. We've looked into hypo-allergenic breeds like Labradoodles, etc and it is still a no-go. But that's okay I found the one person in the world that is worth it. However, I love going to friends houses and playing with their pets. Sometimes, I ignore my friends in doing so.
Anyhoo, point being...this thread is great. Such wonderful photos, pets enrich so many peoples lives in wonderful ways.

Over Xmas we added some new members to our family.
We have four very cute chickens. For those interested in chickens here is the list of breeds:
1 light sussex
1 buff sussex
1 coronation sussex
1 buff orpington
We did start with two silver laced wyandottes but found out after a few days that they were roosters so the breeder took them back. I would love a rooster but unfortunately we are not allowed to have them were we live.
The buff orpington is a little younger than the others and still a bit scruffy looking but she is my favourite. A very calm inquisitive chicken.
I will post some snaps soon.![]()

Some rabbits tolerate being held. Some don't. His partner, Tasha, who died in April, would tolerate being held (operative word: tolerate. No rabbit likes being held. As a prey animal, it's fairly deeply engrained that being held means being carted away as something's dinner.). When Tasha was done being held, she'd DIG at your chest (and sometimes bite). It was her way of saying "LET ME DOWN....NOW!!" Noah will not tolerate being held. It makes clipping his nails a challenge.
Generally, if you lie on the floor, a bunny will come over and investigate. In his younger years, Noah would climb on top of Tom's or my back. He liked to be up high and have a command view of the room. No longer, however. When you no longer hold their interest, a bunny will leave you. Although I've never had a cat, I imagine they're like a cat in this regard.
Noah knows his name. He knows (or at least responds to) his name, as well as "salad" and "cookie" and "banana" and "out." Bunnies are a unique beasty. Interactive, but on their terms. And...no crack of dawn walks in pouring rain, and no college tuition!![]()
