Bike Repair and Maintenance - The Bicycling Guide to Complete Bicycle Maintenance and Repair: For Road and Mountain Bikes by Todd Downs. He explains everything plainly and uses lots of detailed black and white photos so even a bike maintenance idiot like myself can do a few things. For each situation, he explains, and usually shows, the variations for different types/brands of components and bike styles. If I had the time and ambition, I could probably learn how to do complete overhauls from this book, but I'll stick to my LBO for the big stuff.

Training for road cycling - I have several Spinervals and like them all and also a few Train Right videos put out by Chris Carmichael but my new recent fave is Global Ride: StrenDurance Hawaii Virtual Cycling DVD. You can choose to listen to different coaches, or shut them off, the terrain is varied and really puts you through a good work-out and what's not to like about spending a little time cycling in Hawaii on a cold, snowy day? Also, each Global Ride dvd has an added bonus at the end - StrenDurance has 1/2 hour of strength conditioning and they have one with pilates and one with yoga - all specifically designed for cyclists.

Stretching or Yoga for cycling DVD - I don't have one targeted just for cyclists but I do have an love Rodney Yee's Yoga Conditioning for Athletes. The main part is 1 hour long and you can choose to focus on strength or flexability or combine them. It also includes several 10 minute mini workouts to choose from, depending on the sport, and one is for cycling. I sometimes do this short one after a long ride and it helps for a smoother recovery. As I have had back issues ever since being rear-ended by a Mack truck (literally) years ago, I also use and love Peggy Cappy's Yoga for the Rest of Us: Back Care Basics. Even though it is targeted more to older folks or people with injuries, I have found that my back, and thus cycling have benefitted significantly from doing these stretches.
