Don't know much about Leavenworth, but I certainly have heard great things about the Methow Valley (Mazama, Twisp area). There's a huge trail network there and lots of guided snowshoe trails. Oh - and it is closer to you.

Anyone gone snowshoeing or x-country skiing in this area, near Leavenworth, WA?
We stick to established trails since we don't know the area. He has cycled once in summer through Leavenworth and up/over the Pass.
(Yes, we know about the pseudo German town of Leavenworth. Kinda of corny but it's fine with us. As long as it's nice corniness. I joked with him that it is the substitute for the real Christmas markets in some medieval German towns or... Christmas in Prague.)

Thx the info. Eden. It looks like a place worth checking out in future.
Leavenworth trip is part of a Christmas gift to me. At least there will be snow when we're there next week.

I haven't been to the Leavenworth area but I'm pretty sure you can ski on the golf course. There are also a lot of sno-parks near Lake Wenatchee, west of Leavenworth on Stevens Pass, that have trails.
