I'm sorry to hear about this, but you're smart to think long term. Three months will go quickly and you're right, it's better that this happened in the winter than the spring/summer.
This might be a time to discover other interests/activities.... Who knows, you might find a new passion to add to cycling and horseback riding.
Thanks everyone. I am not one to be down very long but this just kinda surprised me.
I think what has me upset is that I thought it was done with the whole accident. I followed doctor's orders and only started back when I got the all clear. I rode well in the late summer and fall and got to do both the Horsefarm Hundred (55miles) and Horrible Hundred (70miles) and I was getting stronger until about 1 month ago but I figured it was a little plateau not something more serious.
bmccasland: been there done that!
mickchick: Very true but I was excited to start mountain biking. I have been loaned a very nice Gary Fisher and have many offers from cute guys to take me out.Grant you they are either married or way too young but they are a nice group and they have a lot of fun.
However, I am sure they will still be around in 3 months!
Oh, how frustrating! Vent away.
I had a sacrum fracture a few years ago, too, and the most frustrating part was not being able to do much cardio while my body was healing. I eventually re-discovered a new appreciation for swimming, which I didn't enjoy much as a kid.
Hope it all heals properly this time!
arielmoon, you've come so far and I know you can make it 3 more months! Don't cheat -- you want to heal and get as close to 100% as you can!

Ariel - I am in the midst of recovery from an injury as well (though nowhere near as serious as yours) and I understand your frustration! I have been trying for MONTHS to get back to some sort of normalcy, all the while watching my body turn from extra-fit to jello. I HATE it, but I have to continue waiting as well.
I am sending healing thoughts your way! Take care, be patient (and please tell me the same thing!) and all will be well soon. ~jane

Thank you all!
I am feeling much better about the news. I plan to ride a little while visiting my mother over the holidays. She lives in St Pete FL and the roads there are very smooth and flat. I am sure that will put a big smile on my face![]()
