I have a hat similar to this one. It doesn't cover the ears (I thought it would). What's the point?

Just back from 3 hours of xc skiing. Most excellent snow! Skied the Reformatory Branch railroad right-of-way from Bedford to Concord. Today my wool consisted of Ibex undies, sleeveless Woolie baselayer shirt, Pendleton wool shirt from Goodwill, wool cargo pants from Goodwill, Smartwool socks.

Wow, I've never thought of skiing on that trail. I've mountain biked on it a few times. It's always very wet!

I have done *NOTHING* remotely resembling exercise for 4 days. No cross training, nothing. I've been trying to force myself to sleep extra and rest the last while. I've had a cold since Ironman that does not want to go away. Usually I would be skate skiing this time of year but alas...

On the bright side, I've done more reading than I have in ages. I'm reading the book "Middlesex". Very intriguing story about an immigrant family with a hermaphroditic son. I'm not sure I'm classifying his condition properly so please excuse me if that's incorrect. Excellent writing, great story telling.

I also may have found the perfect house for my BF and I. Unfortunately I have nothing to buy it with... not right now anyway.

It's nice to be back on the board with some regularity and to *see* you all again.

There are no xc ski bargains to be found
and I want some. I have a feeling this winter is going to be a good one for that.

I'm planning to rent xc skis this winter so I can learn some technique and figure out if/what I really want to buy. And then I'm going to keep my eyes open for end of season clearance sales.
