This is me with my corn snake Sly.I've had him for 15 years. He's now 5ft long and is so friendly. I just love him to bits.

Pretty! My co-worker's daughter wanted a corn snake for her 8th birthday, her parents bought her one and she loves it...but it smells! They keep it's place clean but it still smells, any tips I could pass along to them??

Are they using vermiculite (I think that's how you spell it). I never have any problems with smells unless he's done a big poo after shedding his skin.

With the vermiculite you can just lift out the soiled part and replace the lot every few months.

I'll copy this and send it to her, I don't know what they use but she tells me it smells to high heaven in her daughters room.

    Thanks!

Oops Pax I think the stuff I use is actually Corn Cob. Here's a link with a picture so your friend can see the sort of stuff it is. I buy mine from a local serpentarium.

Thanks again. I know she really wants to keep her snake but her folks are getting fed up with the smell, hopefully this will help.

I hope it helps. When I first got my snake I just used newspaper to line the bottom of the tank and I never had smells with that either. It's a cheap alternative.

Oh okay. I'm not too sharp tonight lol.
No I never handle him for two or three days after feeding him. It lets his meal settle, also if you handle them too quickly they could regurgetate and that can cause future problems with feeding.

    ah - LOL
    "is that bulge, food?"
Is that bulge in the snake undigested food?
guess that's closer. Not that it matters, since the answer is "no".
