I'm working on goals for December/winter, never mind all of next year!

I have never ridden through the winter, and this year, I would like to. Biking this summer/fall has been very therapeutic, and I don't want to let go of it.

I won't call them goals, but do have a few things I'd like to do in 2010, if I can swing them:

1.) Ride the Northern Central Railroad Trail from mile 0 to the end, spend the night in York, and ride back. I think this would be nice to do on a mild winter weekend. Or in the spring. Or the summer. Or the fall. It's only 41 miles one way, so totally doable physically; just need the time, money, and opportunity!

2.) Ride the Great Allegheny Passage. Maybe (just maybe) combine this with another C&O ride, but since I have a kid in (a very expensive) college, the GAP would be enough if that's all I could afford.

3.) Get better at hills. The only direction I can go on this is up!

4.) At least a metric century. Came close this year, with a 57-mile ride.

5.) Improve my average speed.

6.) Pass somebody, ANYbody, when I ride! Anyone, anyone at all!! (Anyone over 8 and under 80, anyway.)
