Seriously, a buff (thin doesn't take up much room) and I can pull it down over my ears. Keeps me OK until just below 50. Then I toss on the helmet cover to keep the wind down and double up the buff over the ears.

I tried a thin wool tuk, but my helmet is just a little too small with it and I ended up with a pressure headache. So I'm back to buffs and the shower cap...I mean helmet cover.
