That's too bad. REI can come in handy. The one near me (Bailey's Crossroads) is not shopping mall hell, but it has a scary parking lot. There's a steep hill on one side of the lot, and you feel like you're going to flip over driving down it.

Yeah, I've been to Short Pump; pretty crazy.
The REI in Rockville, MD is pretty calm.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

The REI in College Park is nice and quiet. It's a little hard to find, but that's what makes it nice and quiet.
The Bailey's Crossroads location is terrible. I really dislike that area altogether.
Can you tell I'm a shopping center curmudgeon?![]()
Hmmm...I don't mind the one that's near your parents - at least it's on the other side of the road from the worst of the mall h!ll. The other 2 in this area - I won't go anywhere near them. My pet peeve is that I haven't found anywhere other than a mall to get good professional clothes. If I could totally avoid all large shopping centers, I would. Come to think of it, I don't really like crowds at all.
Most days in life don't stand out, But life's about those days that will...
That one is okay; I can slip in and out the back way. I can walk there for that matter, although I never have, interestingly...hmmm...
Before that one opened I'd go to the other one and couldn't stand getting there. Is there a third one now? Do I even want to know?
I've found some fantastic consignment shops for my pro clothes, but that's a certain niche that not many people like.
All I can say is, Thank Goodness for Campmor for REI-type stuff. No malls!
That's "my" REI!The spaces are configured oddly, too.
Since I'm coming from North Arlington, I can avoid Leesburg Pike, too. I don't mind Bailey's that much. It beats the Fairfax County 'burbs.
I might have to check out the one in College Park. My DH loves going over that way (he's a UMD grad) -- we go to that Ikea instead of the one in Dale City.
