I remembered seeing girdles in lingerie depts. as a child. Then they seemed to have disappeared for a few years. It must have been 1970's feminism of "I am woman, hear me roar", etc. (Helen Reddy's song cry.) to..be strong, proud of who she was, what she looked like..naturally. In some ways, I still believe that except wearing a bra is helpful for most women.
Later girdles reappeared now in more sleeker spandex styles, thinner materials and colours, etc. Appreciate the need for special occasions..a wedding, annual dressy dinner, etc. But that's all.
There are other ways to buy clothing styles and colour that flatter every figure.
But I guess it's like us wearing our spandex shorts, tights..except we wear it for comfort on bike, not to restrict us.![]()
