It's been about 6 weeks since I did any errands by bike (which is now my substitute for commuting). I missed my Jamis! So, despite the threatening northeaster (not supposed to hit until later this PM), I went out about 9:45 to go to the ATM and to a drugstore that is about 6 miles away. I wanted to go there because I sent in my son's wedding announcement to the local paper of the town next door, where we used to live; hence this particular drugstore on the border of the next town carries it.
I had a nice ride, but I decided that instead of being perpetually overdressed, I would put up with freezing going down the hill, so I wore a base layer and my Shak, with tights. I was cold until I almost reached my destination, but the way back was better, mostly because the sun is peeking out and the temperature is now 48 instead of 44.I had 2 older gentlemen tell me "it's a little cold for riding" as I was locking my bike and then when I was leaving the ATM closer to my house and getting in the lane to turn left, another older man shook his head and waved his finger at me???? I supposed he was annoyed that I was "acting like a car." Oh well, since this was in a spot where there's always lots of cyclists, I laughed it off.
I have my weekend class starting at 5 PM tonight and then all day Sat. and Sunday. I might be able to get a short ride in when I get home Sunday, but not on Saturday. So, I am glad I got out there, even though it was only 12 miles.
The announcement was not in this week's paper, though.
