Shooting star - quinoa is a berry, that is ground like a grain, for flour. It has a texture like cous cous( but with little 'tails' ) when cooked for savory or can be flaked for cereal. It has more fat and more protein than grain.
MMM quince !
I have PMT and am eating EVERYTHING> I hate that. Esp since all I eat is mostly fruti and veg so I am bloated up like a big balloon.
Conquering illness, one step at time.

I made this for dinner last night. My only tweeks were that I only had one carrot in the house, and I used a couple of chicken boullion cubes instead of veggie stock. Also added additional black pepper.
It came out really really well, was very satisfying, and is full of healthy stuff!
Highly recommended!
Weekend, Monday and tuesday I did pretty good,
For lunch on Monday and tuesday I packed some ginseng chicken soup for lunch, with brown rice and a vegetable.
Last night I was too tired to prepare anything for lunch.
this morning i woke late, so didn't have time for breakfast,a run or a long ride to work.
lunch was packed rice(white) with squid and 3 types of veggies
since it was mostly white rice and veggies, i was hungry again 4 hrs later, and guess what i had an egg sandwich (white bread!) and a sweet bun...
I think i figured out what makes me sleepy/tired... REFINED CARBS! I was soooo sluggy after that i almost fell asleep in front of the kids!
for tmw's lunch, i made curried lentil and cauliflower stew, with some boiled eggs.
I find that i really need to make the effort to prepare my lunches. somehow i feel much better, and i can schedule in exercise better.. it's tough though, cooking and planning...nothing comes easy i guess... sigh...
on a more upbeat note, 5 more school days till end of term, and 2 weeks till i go to the US to see my dearest boyfriend! I'm excited!!
My garlic press. I think it's an OXO. After buying a few cheapies over the years, which always ended up breaking or bending, I finally plunked down the $$ for an expensive one. This one is bombproof and will last me forever.
I used garlic almost everyday, and would not want to go back to mincing by hand.
It's also useful for mincing fresh ginger.
I also have to say how much I love my Henckels knives. A good quality knife set with decent heft is invaluable in the kitchen. Again, I use them every day and would be quite the frustrated cook without them.
Breakfast:
Oatmeal with frozen blueberries
Banana
Lunch:
Salad with taco-seasoned beef and light cheese, salsa for dressing.
Fruit cup.
Dinner will probably be some more taco salad.
I ate too much today...![]()
