Look what I found on my walk

I found, or rather Shiloh found, this little guy in the middle of the road eating a chicken bone. He has no street smarts (do Pomeranians even come with street smarts?) and was nearly hit by a car. I scooped him up and carried him home. He's surprisingly heavy for a little dog. I've posted Found Dog info on our neighborhood website and alerted the local dog people.

I really hope someone claims him pronto. I can't keep him, and he's obviously a pampered lapdog. Someone must really be worried about him. He smells like my Grandmother--kindof like gardenias.

The little guy is lucky you came along. Hope his owner turns up soon.

How good you are to give him a home until he's claimed. Poor little thing.

He's fat and well-cared for. I'm sure the owner will show up. I just hope it's today!

Take him to a local vet, shelter, or rescue organization and ask them to look for a chip. They'll do it for free and may be able to look up his owner on the spot.
More and more people are chipping their dogs.

+1. Also, if it smells like someone's grandma, it might be that it actually does belong to someone's grandma. I doubt she'd be looking on a community website. Perhaps some actual posters put up around the neighbourhood would be useful. He can't have wandered too far.

Notify your nearest Humane Society , animal shelter, AND your local animal control person. These places are where folks call and leave a number when they've lost a pet.

The rightful owner has been found! Sammy is the dog's name and he's quite the escape artist, apparently. His owner is not a Grandma, but a nice young woman who works in a dog grooming shop. She was worried sick over him all day, until a neighbor saw the posting on the website and called her, and then called me.

I did leave my name with Animal Control, I posted flyers in the neighborhood, and I let all the dog people and dog trainers that I know that I had found the dog. I called the local vet for a microchip scan, but they are closed on Wednesday afternoons. Turns out this dog is not yet microchipped anyways.

It all worked out. Enough dogs! I'm too busy for these distractions at the moment!

She ALWAYS has the 'crazy' look, LOL. She's still pretty spry for 14 though.
