I have been facebook phobic for years. I just joined this weekend, and it seems kind of a no-brainer to add the business in a friendly, facebook sort of way. It isn't so bad. No, it is actually good... I think/trust. I have no interest in connecting with people I haven't seen since high school or before, and you don't need to! it is seriously fun seeing what the people you actually care about are doing in their lives, and a lot of them are hanging out there.

It is the interface that is so friendly. I think that is why it works. You control your privacy and you can upload like 100 photos in 5 minutes (via iPhoto). Anyway, no sales job here. I get the reluctance. I embodied it just a week ago. But now that I am in, I am very in.

I have always wanted to share framebuilding photos, but even on the blog, the upload process is really slow, and I don't have a lightning-fast internet connection, so I get impatient and, hence, don't do enough with that particular side of my business there. I figure FB is a very easy way to get folks on the inside, if on the inside is where they want to be.

I do really like keeping up with friends, family and former colleagues.

But Margo, wait until you get a few friend requests from people you knew in, no, not high school, but junior high, who either you weren't really friends with or who are like younger siblings of people you knew but weren't really friends with... and you're just like, on the one hand, why would I want to friend you and why do I care what you are doing or want you to know what I am doing -- but on the other hand, do I feel like a big jerk ignoring your request? It's happened to me a few times now and it's hard every time.

That's what I'm afraid of. I don't have time for it. I have a life, and I already spend enough time (too much) in front of the computer!

LOL! Well, I have never been well known for my social graces (as some of the women on this forum can likely attest...), so I think I can keep it real, and small. I have already had 4 friend requests from people I have never heard of...but there is a little part of me who wonders if I just forgot them???....anyway, I have no need for a 3 or 4 figure friend list. It really is a little weird, but the potential is fantastic.

Beloved Tulip, I hear you. I took this week off, planned months in advance. If I hadn't, I would be apologizing to my customers, as the facebook thing does take a chunk of time, but only if you let it.

I went to your Facebook page and was amazed at the process as I went through all the photos. I have joined your group and since I have a Luna ordered, I'm hoping I get to see mine as it's being created.

I was a Facebook phobic as well until we were asked to join a local bike club group. I'm like Tulip--I don't have the time for all this--but I do like keeping in touch with family and old friends. I hate the people who I have added as friends that junk everything up with mundane comments like "I just ate a bologna sandwich" or "I'm bored" or "I just found a purple cow on my farm". These people need a hobby---like cycling

trouble is, at least in Margo's case it's best to let people friend you because they could be customers. YOu want to network as far as you can. Because friends of friends can see your photos and might want a bike!
