I just finished our town's film fest today, watching 12 films in 4 days.
No more pizza and chocolate for a while now....

Driving to work today, everything looked like a picture post card. The foliage is at peak color and at one spot, there was a light mist/fog hanging over a pond and a farm. I ride by this spot very frequently and I think I am getting sort of an eh? attitude to all of the beauty that surrounds me. To me, at times, it's just another boring ride on one of my regular routes. That is until I go riding somewhere else and think, "Why did I drive somewhere to ride, when everything right around me is better?" I forget that hundreds of people come out to ride where I live because of this, as well as the "regular" tourists.
When I moved back here almost 20 years ago, I swore I would never become non-appreciative of my natural surroundings, after living in the desert for so long. I have to keep reminding myself of this.

I need to remind myself not to take the good things in my life for granted every single day. We're only human, but it's far too easy to become jaded and blind to the privileges in our lives. I think about how most of the human beings on earth live as compared to my life, and about just how damned lucky I am.
Last night I saw the movie Precious at our film festival, and let me tell you it really hit me.

maybe it's because i am a watercolor artist, there is no way I can pass through the natural beauty around me without being entranced, That is, unless it's in the dark.
Right now though, i am looking out the window at the trees about 800 feet from my window and i can't see ANY color, just dark tree shapes, that's how bad the rainfall is.
    not good biking weather.

It's the same here Mimi, heavy rain, low clouds. 4C, 39F. Brrrr... And snowing like crazy on the Coquihalla Highway between Kelowna and Vancouver.

I found a Canadian nickel while I was hiking yesterday. It was so shiny and lightweight I thought it was some kind of slug or toy money

I've been hearing a lot about that film. I might actually pay the big money and see that at a theatre. I bet you didn't even recognize Mariah Carey.
