My second-to-last rest week, before I start my half-marathon training program. I have Round 2 of Trigger Point Therapy for my hip (sounds similar to your hip, Veronica*) tomorrow. Round 1 relieved the pain for a few days, but I think it's going to take a little more for my muscles to surrender for good.
Friday, I am looking forward to a relaxed five-miler with my mentor. It is sometimes difficult for us to go slow, but we have plenty of fast miles ahead of us this winter.![]()
* Veronica, I was having bursitis-like symptoms (very painful at times), and the therapist said I probably did have bursitis. But she thought it was because my the right side of my pelvis was tipped forward and down (probably from the birth of my daughter) so we are working on fixing that, which hopefully will fix the bursitis.
Had one of the best runs in a while last night. It was kind of soggy outside as it had been raining all day, but I decided to wear the VFFs anyway & run on the grass beside the sidewalk 50% of the time. It was a really fun 6.2 miles on a new route.![]()
I hope our 13.1 ladies are recovering well!! Congrats again on your finishes.

I wasn't planning to run today (have been working my butt off on a school paper) but my upstairs neighbor knocked on the door asking if I was interested in joining her on a run in the neighborhood. I was getting really tired of sitting in front of the computer, so I went. We did some laps around the park across the street, no major distance, but it was fun. I did the usual jumping over things etc. and I think she found it amusing. Now maybe I will be able to concentrate to finish this paper tonight!

Last weekend I did the "Fall Five Miler" with some friends. For one friend, it was her first time running that length, so I tried to be a really good cheerleader. We had a lot of fun. This weekend, I am running my first 5KI have never run one before!!! I am actually pretty excited. I got a 4 miler and a 5 miler in this week, and I am planning on 4 again tonight. I would really like to run fast in my 5K, since I have spent the whole year running long and slow

Oh I'm jealous.
I haven't had a day completely off since the 13.1, and while most of me feels pretty good, there's enough lingering/aerobics-exacerbated soreness in my quads that I'm thinking I really ought to take a rest day today.
But it's so beautiful outside... maybe a walk with DH, anyhow.

I forced myself to take another day off. I will be walking at lunch, though.
I am antsy to run but at the same time, I know that I should rest.
I can do five more miles.
First 5k ever! 27:02!! I had a one mile PR with 7:56!!!! I was super thrilled. The rest of the race was...well....it benefited a place called hillside. Enough said :-) It was hilly hilly hilly after the first mile, so I did what I could to salvage the time. 13th woman, which makes me really happy. I am trying to spin some of my long distance fitness into a few short races this fall. I think on a flatter course, I could maintain that first mile pace.... So excited! AND to top it off, my hip feels great!
Afterwards, I met a friend at a rock climbing gym, and I made it up a route I have been trying to do since July! It was a good athletic day for me![]()
Miami in March sounds like a dream, considering I just signed up for Hyannis in February. Brrr! Only 13.1, though the "full course" option is available.
Duh, Miami is the last weekend in January. Don't know why I thought March. Maybe Melbourne is in March.
Hyannis in February?I'm getting cold just thinking about that!

Well, a lot of the time it is quite a bit warmer in Hyannis in the winter than even just north of the canal. Hasn't been true the last year or so, but generally you can ride quite easily there all year round, as they really don't get as much snow and the temperatures are moderated by the ocean. So, while it might be 30 or 25 by me, it will be 40 there. I think that's a good temperature for running!
But Miami in January sounds good, too, but probably not enough time to train for a marathon?
Just got home from the 27 Mile trail-run. Lots of tired, lots of hills, lots of insanely beautiful sights. It took close to 8hrs. much longer than expected, that's the most amount of hours I've ever spent running, but my buddy had some knee trouble which had us walking on & off the last 7 miles.Ran the first 8 miles in the dark w/ headlamps. Loved it. Will post pictures & hopefully some video later, right now I need a shower & sustenance. I'm as foggy as Halloween right now.
Found some energy, here's my first attempt at youtube & taping running. Forgive the poor quality and shakiness.
