    Introducing Ouzel --

Yellow is still in temporary quarters in SLC awaiting the move to their new home in a few weeks. She doesn't have internet access yet but has been busy. She just sent me the following pics and the note. I get to see the new chick in a few weeks.

    Hi Sarah,

Here are some pictures of Ouzel, little sister to Sonya, Warrior Princess (my red Titus - SK). Ouzel might one day be a Warrior Princess, too, but until my skills catch up to the bike, she will remain known as Ouzel. She was almost “Junco”, but I decided that her dipping motions, color, and ability to fly downstream were more like those of the American Dipper (formerly known as the water ouzel). So Ouzel she is.

I chose a picturesque old storage shed for the background as I didn’t want to use flash indoors. It actually worked out OK, with the exception that I got some old windows in the frame for the full bike shot. It captures the spirit of the apartment, which I will be happy to be out of. I took a shot of the matching stickers and headset. I swear Titus and King must have discussed their color shades.

She still has a crappy stem on as we’re still dialing that in. Once we get the length right I think I’ll get a nice Thomson stem. We’ll see.

So she is “Anodized Gray”, has a RockShox SID 80mm front shock, Fox Float rear shock, Mavic CrossMax wheels, Avid disc brakes and Avid levers, SRAM X9 shifters and rear derailleur, SRAM rear cassette, Shimano XT front derailleur, Shimano XT crankset, and a plain ol’ regular ol’ Titus handlebar (which I suspect I’ll upgrade once I get a job). She weighs just a tad over 25 pounds. I am OK with the color…not thrilled, but you take what you can get when stuff is on closeout (I really wanted the ano blue, which is the same color as the headset). I saw a powder coat black built bike in the store today that was real purty. My other choices were pink (no), light blue (gag), white (ho-hum), red (couldn’t do that), and black. I’m sure I’ll adjust.

So if you could be so kind to introduce Ouzel to the gals…

    Sue

saweeeeeeeeeeeeet!! I Really like that bent back seat post. My LBS was trying to find one for my MTB but it seems they can't get one anymore. Bless their lil hearts, they recommended I try the Internet!
Tell Yellow we miss her and are looking forward to her coming back - soon!

Bless their little hearts, who is this LBS? It's a standard setback seatpost from Thomson.

I will pass on the sentiments to yellow. She misses everyone also.

That be the brand they recommended. They offered to "special order" it for me but told me I could buy it cheaper if I got it off the 'net - they recommended Performance or Nashbar or Ebay. Thanks for the link!!

BTW, if someone can tell me how to size these photos I'll do it. They're kind of exploding on the screen right now.

resize using Micr@soft photo editor or paint which, if I am correct, comes with your wind@ws installation. open the pic, go to the image menu and thence to resize (something like "stretch/distort" in german. Insert both the height and width factor you want, there is no option to lock the proportions).

Thanks, alpine, but these are image links that have already been resized. It probably takes some html language.

Lol. Now I need a magnifying glass to see 'em proper-like. Tell Ms. Yellow to enjoy the new baby.

Very nice. I have a Titus Locomoto which I love. What a great company. They recalled the frame because a couple frames had problems, and paid for shipping there and back and everything.

Mine is gold ano, (which scratches easier than you'd think) and was built by Speedgoat, with hand-built Mavic wheels, Avid mechanical discs, Thompsen seatpost, Chris King red headset, red Salsa flip offs and seat post quick release, Easton straight bar, Thompsen stem, Fizik Vitesse seat, Race Face red Prodigy crankset and XT components.

I'd _highly_ recommend Speedgoat http://speedgoat.com/ to anyone wanting a custom built bike, where you can pick out each and every component yourself. We had countless e-mails back and forth in the decision making process, and they provided several stems for me to try before I got the "real" final stem.
