    Great! Someone should get it.

I just have no idea what I'd do with a mixte or when I'd ride it. Too many other bikes, but I like looking at them.

How can you pass up a mixte at that price?

I couldn't if it was down the street from me. but 63 miles away is far away. Least I'm pretending.

And I'm saving money. Least I'm pretending.

Turns out my next bike is NOT going to be fast, as predicted in another thread.

The guy who was selling this buys old bikes from yard sales, fixes them up and donates them to inner city non-profits. But when he gets one that is particularly nice, he sells it to support his habit! That's how he came to own this one, but because of that he knows nothing of its provenance. It's not British Royal Enfield, since they went out of business in the early 70's. From what little research I've done it looks like a Japanese manufacturer picked up the name and made bikes throughout the 70's and 80's. I couldn't begin to guess the age of this one beyond that span of time.

The frame is in good shape (dings and chips in the paint, of course), but the whole bike seems to have suffered from neglect more than anything else. It'll need new cables, tires, chain and brake pads at the least. I hope not more. I'm so NOT mechanically inclined--the extent of my fixer-up ability has been changing tires and lubing chains. But I don't have the money to pay someone else to do the work, so I'll have to figure this out. How hard can it be, right? Famous last words.

It's also a bit small for me. I can ride it, but it may end up being a gift for my little sister who has been looking for a bike for her two mile commute to work and would fit this perfectly.

This caught my eye since I saw it was a Puch Meteor Luxe. I have one, in this color too, but this appears to be a mixte in the picture. Too small a frame for me at 53cm. I'd love to get a hold of the fenders. If they charge 6% sales tax would that mean it is a business selling this bike?

Oh, I like that one. Puch is on my list of dream mixtes, along with Bridgestone, Raleigh and Bianchi.
