I had used Terry saddles in the past and since they changed to the new fabric on the Zero X, I sent it back. That weave material does trap salt and odor. It was almost sticky when I rode. I sent it back before things got too bad. My only suggestion other than a different saddle is to try some type of scotch guard or seam sealer like you use on camping tents to waterproof. I am not sure it would be 100%, but may help. For what it's worth, I think The Selle Italia Lady Gel Flow is pretty much the same as the butterfly. Selle Italia makes Terry saddles.

    easy answer: Black Shorts.

All my bikes have Terry Butterfly saddles and I've never noticed leaching because I always wear black shorts. Always. Haven't noticed any smell...but I haven't made the effort, either.

All my shorts are black, many of them have a lighter chamois, like the Cannondale which is orange... now grey LOL. I am not so much worried about my chamois, but the die leaching on my skin...

I had a pair of cycling shoes that turned my feet purple-black for days, every time it rained.

Thank goodness I never had to deal with that, with my @ss!

I had some PI gloves that did that to my hands.

I assume the saddle was a black one? Good luck with it. I'd be hesitant to exchange unless I had some assurance the materials were different, or if I could be reasonably assured that treating the original with Scotch Guard or some such after initial problems would be ineffective.

I'd exchange it for a new saddle and put a neoprene saddle cover on it. There are a few companies that make them. Trisports is one place that carries them. They run around $20.

+1. I have noticed the dye changing the color of my chamois.

It is a Bontrager... but I am not sure which model. Maybe I have weird sweat too?

I had a pair of Lakes that leached red dye onto my socks and feet in the wet. I don't wear them anymore.

You would think cycle shoe companies would test materials before they use them for colourfastness.

Thanks, good idea with scotch guard, I guess it will not make it worse than it already is.
As you mentioned, the company changed something, then I always (over 10 years) had Terry saddles and never experienced this.
