    another convert!

yep, I converted another newbie... he was riding a Walmart special... it rolled fine, but man, was it heavy! So he decided he wanted to do a 53 mile event... and did it on this bike... but oh, how he suffered!

So then he asked me to 'splain some bike stuff Lucy. Which I did. He wanted a good entry level road bike... and to spend about $700. Fine, let's go bike shopping...

then he rode a bike. I told him to ride more. So there began the quest... he rode every bike he could get his hands on... and did a LOT of research... I have spent hours talking frames and components... I think he knows more than me now!

    verdict: 2006 Specialized Tarmac Pro...

He went a wee bit over budget. BUT he has now decided to train for Ironman 2008, so he'll get his $$$ worth outta it. He asked if I could train him... HAHAHAHAHAHA... flattering to be sure but also pretty funny... I told him I could get him started but then he needs to hire a real coach... my riding is NOT Ironman style. LOL

First ride with my lil group is this weekend... he was strong on the mule he was riding... I'm afraid... very afraid... I'm gonna get dropped by a newbie

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
