What a pretty, soulful face your lumbar support/foot warmer has!

I learned recently that our local Humane Society and the local domestic violence agency have teamed up to help provide foster care for women who must leave their homes but are fearful of leaving pets behind. I plan on speaking with my landlord (who, I'm grateful, is pretty laid back and pet friendly) about getting onto the fostering list. I'm fortunate in that my apartment is large enough for both Chloe and Hunter to chase each other and play. If it can also provide refuge for another animal that may be the deciding factor for a woman leaving a violent situation I'd like to be able to do that.

What a great program. Animals are such a source of comfort. These women can know not just that their animal is safe from abuse but they could (I hope) be able to visit the animal and get them back in the future.

I would have no problem with visitations especially since the majority of the women served have children. I think that the kids being allowed to see/play with their pets would help to alleviate some of the confusion/anxiety of the situation.
