Cycling to/from airport

Have you done this at all? 'Course it helps if your home airport is directly connected to local transit trains, etc. as a shortcut ..which ours recently got the connection built just over a month ago.

But maybe it's because am not a car driver, and hence find large airports intimidating in terms of outgoing and incoming car traffic, plus many are usually close to major fast highways/interchanges.

And by the way, you can cycle in park-like land with benches, near the Vancouver Airport and pick blackberries to your heart's content...

Obviously many folks like me...don't cycle to and from airport(s).
My partner seems to be unfazed by this ..he's cycled to and from airports in:
Toronto, Montreal, Boston, San Francisco, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels. But then, he's much more geo-spatially confident.

Thought might bring this up especially it is a sort of situation to cope with if one is solo cycle-touring and starting off by flying to the start-point.

Considering there's no secure bike parking at any major airport in the USA, I'd just take a taxi if there's no public transport... because even if you ride there, you're going to be taking a taxi home anyhow.

That bike route by the Zurich airport can take you north to the Rhine River about 25 km away, all off-road and following a lovely river. The following photos were taken on that route. I wasn't aware of bike rentals at the airport, but there is public transpo into the city.

I've ridden my bike to the Denver International airport in the past. There's a nice railing outside the baggage claim that often has numerous bikes chained up to it. The city has designated a 'bike route' all the way out there, and traffic wasn't a problem when I tried it. In fact, there is a bike route sign inside the baggage claim terminal. One reason I rode up there was to see if anyone would try to stop me if I followed the bike route signs right on in... To my disappointment, no one said anything. :-)

there is also an oficial bike route that turns into a bike path that goes directly to the passenger busport at the Zurich terminal.
I'm not aware of "long term parking" or even attended lockers like at the main station.

but you're right of course, with serious luggage public transport is the easier option.
