Added a "2nd" bike to the stable

So...Maybe someone else has had a similar experience: I sold my hybrid bike to buy my road bike... and realized that I no longer had a bike I could take to out for errands, to grocery store, etc. So my dh and I scoured Craigs List and a bunch of yard sales. We kept asking: "Do you have any bikes?" and then.....

Although my goal was to spend less than $80 for a fixer-up, I think I made a good decision. We offered $175 for a sparkly purple Cannondale H300 hybrid/commuter that had about 30 miles on it, exactly my size, with all of these add-ons tossed in for free: front and back lights, a U-lock, a brand-new matching purple helmet and a pair of light duty Pearl Izumi shorts (that fit!).

Ah yes, this does sound familiar!! I sold my aluminum road bike AND my hybrid 4 years ago to buy my carbon road bike and found myself in the same situation. I wanted another bike to commute, run errands and ride the local trails with. While getting fitted for a bike to fit that need, I found out my expensive carbon road bike has been too big for me all along. Gee whiz! So I decide if I'm gonna spend money on a new bike I need to spend it on the one I ride most. Solution: I ordered a new Luna this week and I'm converting the carbon road bike to use as my commuter.

You were lucky you found such a great bike and a great deal..........and purple's my favorite color. Sounds like it was meant to be. Enjoy it!

Way to go! It's always nice to find a used bike (even though this one doesn't sound like it's been used much at all!).

Have fun! And post a picture!

I went through the same thing, and wound up buying a similar hybrid as the one I sold went I got a road bike.

I also think you should post pics!

These threads just make me more convinced to hold onto my hybrid whenever I move on to a road bike I really do think I'd miss it if I didn't have it, even though there are lots of times when I know I'd really prefer a roadie

I sold my first roadie to buy my nice carbon one, then realized I regretted not having two bikes when one is in the shop! So when I got my new mountain bike I kept my old one, no making that mistake again!

Great find and purple sounds pretty, got pics?

Yippee!! Sounds really pretty and perfectly suited for you!
I, too, have made that mistake. Wish I'd held onto the old bikes I've sold. Oh well- means one day I can get a 4th bike.

Keep it! It's always nice to have a guest bike.

Last night my friend popped in from out of town, and since it was a full-ish moon we thought it would be lovely to ride around the area. A few adjustments to my old mountain bike, and we were able to paint the town red, girls-on-bikes night out style.

Also we saw Whip It. Uber power girls' night out.

I just purchased my first road bike. I had been riding a mtn bike for everything. and as I wait the arrival of my road bike, I am a little sad because that mtn bike had been there for it all and now I will have to pick between the 2. I hate to leave the mtn. bike home when it has enjoyed so many rides with me....

Sounds crazy I know, but I get attached to my stuff.

I tried to upload this pic yesterday, but it was too big. I'm trying again. The sparkly purple color is a little washed out, although you can see that the bottle cage is purple....My old hybrid was a Trek Fx 7.3, but it was actually too large for me, so this is better. I rode it yesterday to have lunch with a friend.
