So I have the general idea of most of the "lingo" that is used by riders. But honestly I have no idea what cadence is (as it pertains to cycling). I could google this, but you ladies seem a heck of a lot more insightfull and entertaining than google, so that is my question. Thank you in advance...

Sheldon Brown also explained it nicely in his article on How to Shift Your Bicycle's Gears (read the sections "Cadence" through "Pushing vs Spinning").
