It seems to me that the kid didn't talk to people because they weren't talking about anything he was interested in. The bike chain, on the other hand. . .
Give big space to the festive dog that make sport in the roadway. Avoid entanglement with your wheel spoke.

If his true interest in life is bikes, and he was spinning like mad to get his bike to go, in about 20 years will we be seeing Rion in the TdF?

Wouldn't that be cool? He DOES have that "scrawny" build that we see on some of those boys!

Yesterday's question was "where's my chain?"

Chain is back on the bike.

Response to that? "YEAH!!!! I can GO again!"

Unfortunately, the day didn't allow for GO! time...

Making this particular bike GO!!! is a challenge even with a chain. It's a pretty nasty little thing -- as I mentioned in the original post, these little bikes we've got around here for the kids are GREAT learning tools for DH and I! It will be fun to get him nicer bikes as he grows if he continues this excitement!

Maybe, but you know how little kids go through those phases -- he's been a hide behind one's leg person for a long time now, and the little boy who's coming out of that "cocoon" is REALLY neat!

(side note -- mommy says he's very different suddenly too. He spent last week with daddy, and she's wondering if she brought the same kid home Sunday evening!)

Sometimes all it takes is to have something to say and someone to say it to.
