Count down to the 12 hour.

I'm doing my first solo 12 hour race this weekend. It's a road race and you have to complete a 112 mile loop to get an official finish. That loop entails about 10 000 feet of climbing. Then you do repeats of a 27 mile loop until you run out of time.

I did this race last year as a 2 women team (with Sproket's Mom). And we kicked it. 185 miles I think.

I'm excited and a bit nervous. My longest solo ride to date is 120 miles. I'll clear that and then some as long as nothing goes wrong.

It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

Thanks for listening. Typing this out helps to ease the jitters a bit.

Whatever ride you do this weekend, have fun and bask in the glory that we are able to ride.

Wahine- When you get a chance either before or after the weekend please give us the route and the 27 mile repeat.

10,000 feet of climbing in a 110 mile race sounds daunting to me.

Kick some booty! I'll be doing a 24-hour solo road race, but very little elevation gain on each 12-mile lap. TONS of traffic and pedestrians, but no mountains.
For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.

Thanks for all the positive words!!!

Bike Godess - You can find the route here. It's the last elevation profile and map on that page. It's called the night loop because that's the loop that the 24 hour folks will repeat through the night. Including my crazy BF. There is a link to the PDF file with written route instructions at the top of the page. Are you planning a trip out here???

Thanks for the link. I sent it to one of my bike pals who loves to race! I'm sure he'll be impressed.

Good luck and let us know how you do.
