    Congrats!! I've almost got 500 miles under my belt now and I'm still occasionally going into granny gears. I hadn't thought much of it, but now you've given me something to shoot for!

    There is nothing wrong with using your granny gear. That's why it there. One of the #1 misconceptions I see with new riders is that you should avoid the granny whenever you can. Learn to use your gears efficiently, so you are not mashing the pedals. Especially, if you live in an area with bigger hills.

    I'm just happy my legs are getting stronger. Plus I didn't think my new bike had a gear that low - but now I think I was wrong about that. woohoo.
