    Triathlon in Colombia

    Hi triathletes.
Anyone up for an adventure and want to come to a beautiful triathlon in Guatape, Colombia? It is ITU sanctioned, a sprint and an olympic distance, in mountain lake, wetsuit recommended, flat lake swim, challenging cycle but beautiful, and flat run.
It is NOT that expensive from US to Bogota or Medellin, and then it is about an hour bus ride in beautiful coffee and banana hills to the race site.
    September 27th.
It is of course a very different scene altogether than in the US, the age groups are usually about 30 women ALTOGETHER, (35-39, my group is usually 2-5 women), so most of the swim, bike, and run portions offer plenty of space, if not sometimes TOO much. We also have more rules in some areas and less in others, making for a tiny bit of chaos, but not like some of the tris you have all reported here. Nonetheless, we will make sure you enjoy it!
I am gonna do both, sprint on Friday and olympic on Sunday.

So, if I'm willing to travel a few thousand miles I might finally be able to place in my age group?
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

$351 round trip airfare from DC. Looks like a beautiful location, too.

If I wasn't an inexperienced triathlon wimp, that might even be tempting. But I've already got two things going on that weekend. Plus the altitude would kill me. Maybe leave this one for people from Colorado!

    Thumbs up

That sounds like a great race and I'm going to keep it on my radar for next year but this year... no go. I've already been away waaaaaaaaay too much. I've got to work sometime to support my tri habit.
